Karl Molyneaux tried to kill the mum-of-two with nine knife blows in her kitchen then left her bleeding heavily on the floor after she told him she wanted to spend a night alone with her children.

He then fled to a nearby petrol station where he called the authorities and told them: "I have just stabbed my girlfriend.

"She will need an ambulance."

When he's asked if she is bleeding heavily he replies: "I don't know. I just ran."

He added: "We just had an argument so I just snapped."

When asked whereabouts he stabbed her he says: "Near the neck."

Molyneaux, 53, turned his girlfriend’s life “upside down” after the attack on the night of Wednesday, March 11, which he carried out while her two teenage children were upstairs.
