Man dies after falling from cliffs at Frenchman's Bay in South Shields

A man has sadly died after falling from the cliffs at Frenchman’s Bay.

Emergency services were called to Frenchman’s Bay in South Tyneside, off the Coast Road, to reports a man had fallen from the cliffs on Monday, March 29, shortly before 8am.

Northumbria Police has confirmed that the male was found unresponsive and has since sadly died.

Officers do not believe there is any third party involvement in the man’s death.

A force spokeswoman said: "Shortly before 7.50 am today (Monday) we received a report a male had fallen from the cliffs at Frenchman's Bay in South Tyneside.

“Officers and emergency services attended and found the male unresponsive. He has sadly passed away and enquiries to trace his next of kin are ongoing.

“Officers do not believe there is any third party involvement but enquiries remain ongoing and a report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”
