A man has been taken to hospital with an injury to his chest as a woman is arrested on suspicion of GBH following a domestic incident in Jarrow.

Northumbria Police were called to a house on Meadow View, in Jarrow, to reports of a suspected domestic incident shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 5.

A man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition with an injury to his chest which police say is ‘consistent with having been cause by a bladed article’.

An investigation is ongoing and a 26-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

She has since been released on police bail.

Witnesses say police cars and forensic teams remained at the house in Meadow View throughout Sunday.

Detectives investigating the incident are now appealing for anyone with information to contact police.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Police attended the address and found a man with an injury to his chest consistent with having been caused by a bladed article. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
