Jason Deen is disqualified for six months after flouting 40 miles per hour restrictions on the A19, near Testo’s Roundabout, where a £124.5m project is continuing to build a new flyover.

Deen, 48, exceeded the temporary limit on four separate occasions between September 1 and September 8, 2019, as he headed southbound in a Chevrolet.

South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court handed him three penalty points for each offence and insisted disqualification was “obligatory due to repeat offending”.

He was also ordered to pay a £70 fine a £30 victim surcharge for each count.

Another 328 were filmed breaking the restrictions by the cameras as they headed in the opposite direction the same month.

Work on the flyover is expected to end in 2021 with motorists reminded that the roundabout area will close completely from 8pm on Friday, September 18, until 6am on Monday, September 21, as sections of the new bridge are lifted into place.

Deen, of Bishopton Road West, Stockton, who did not appear in court, was given credit for his guilty pleas.
