Police investigating after video shared online of teenager being assaulted in 'unprovoked attack' at South Shields Metro Station

A boy has been attacked by a gang of teenagers at South Shields Metro Station.

Officers investigating the attack have received the names of a number of people they wish to speak to.

The teenage boy suffered minor injuries after he was assault by a group of teenagers which occurred on Monday, December 30 at around 6.30pm.

A video of the assault began circulating on social media following the attack on Monday. It has since been deleted.

The incident happened at South Shields Metro Station

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "The incident took place at about 6.30pm when the victim was targeted by people he did not know in an unprovoked attack.

"The boy suffered minor injuries in the assault but did not require any hospital treatment.

“Enquiries into the assault are ongoing but police have received the names of a number of people they wish to speak to about the incident.”
