Police release image of a person as part of a South Tyneside arson investigation
Northumbria Police investigating a suspected arson attack in South Tyneside are appealing to the public for help.
Shortly after 10.20pm on Thursday, January 15, it was reported to the emergency services that a door of a property on Alice Street, in South Shields, was on fire.
The fire was extinguished and Northumbria Police have confirmed that nobody was reported to have been injured as a result of the incident.
Officers have stated that they are treating the incident as arson and they have released an image of a person they want to identify as part of their investigation.

Police say they were believed to have been in the area at the time of the incident and that they may have information to support the investigation.
Despite officers admitting that the image is not the clearest, they hope that it may bring forward any witnesses, and the person could be recognised through their clothing.
