£489 bill for dropping a cigarette and other recent South Shields court cases

Kirsten Linton, 25, of Calf Close Lane, Jarrow, was banned from driving for year, placed on a community order and ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs after admitting driving while disqualified and without insurance on October 22.

Neil Matthew Burns, 35, of Cherry Tree Walk, Hebburn, was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and to pay £150 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting assaulting two police officers on December 17.

Fred Parkin, 71, of Suffolk Gardens, South Shields, was placed on a community order and ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting assault on November 14.

Sophie Jackson, 22, of Wallington Grove, South Shields, was fined £220 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £235 costs after she was convicted of discarding a cigarette butt in High Street West, Sunderland, on June 17.

Janine Graham, 49, of Langholm Road, East Boldon, received three penalty points on her driving licence and was ordered to pay a £200 fine, £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting speeding through the Testo’s Roundabout roadworks on July 23.

Samuel Joseph Price, 26, of Norfolk Road, South Shields, was fined £80 and ordered to pay £500 compensation after admitting causing criminal damage to a door on October 17.

Shazad Arif, 37, of Richardson Avenue, South Shields, was ordered to complete 140 hours as part of a community order and to pay £183 compensation and £85 costs after he admitted committing three shop thefts between February 16-March 8 last year.
