Road closed after two car crash in Boldon

Emergency services have closed North Road in Boldon after reports of a two vehicle collision.

Police attended the scene of the incident on North Road in Boldon after a report of a two vehicle collision at Tuesday lunchtime.

Emergency services closed the road to deal with the ongoing incident.

Police could be seen turning around cars and redirecting them away from the scene in a tweet shared by North East Live Traffic.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 12.04pm today (Tuesday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on North Road, Boldon Colliery.

“Emergency services are at the scene. Thankfully, nobody is believed to be seriously injured.

"A section of North Road is currently closed as a clear-up operation continues.”

Traffic is being diverted away from the road and some bus services in the area have been affected.

Go North East tweeted: “Services 9, 35 & 50 Due to an incident at North Road, Boldon, Services 9 & 50 are currently unable to serve stops at North Rd, service 35 is unable to serve stops at North Rd or ASDA.

“Please catch service 9 from The Shack, service 50 from ASDA and service 35 from Cineworld.”

Stage Coach North East tweeted: “Due to an accident on North Road, Boldon, service 30 is diverted via Boldon Bridge Rd, Abingdon Way and Henley Way.

“Please use the bus stop on Henley Way instead of the ASDA or East View stops, in both directions.”
