South Shields man charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving

A South Shields man has been charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving after a man was shot in Newcastle on Monday.

James Mitchell Lee, 26, of Henry Nelson Street, South Shields has been charged in connection with a firearms incident which happened shortly after 1.35am on Monday, October 5.

Police received a report of a disturbance at St Keverne Square in Newcastle where a male was shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A separate disturbance which occurred at a property on Fordmoss Walk on October 3 is also being investigated in connection with the incident.

Enquiries remain ongoing and this week a number of properties in the Felling area were searched and two men were arrested.

The second male, aged 36, remains under investigation.

James Mitchell Lee is due to appear at Newcastle Crown court tomorrow, Saturday October, 10.
