South Shields man denies attempted murder of man and woman

Two brothers have appeared in court and denied trying to murder a man and a woman.

James Lee and Thomas Lee are both accused of targeting the alleged victims on two separate days in October 2020.

The siblings both appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday, June 25.

There the brothers both pleaded not guilty to two charges of attempted murder.

The charges are the result of an investigation that was launched following a report to officers at Northumbria Police of a disturbance at St Keverne Square in Kenton, Newcastle, where a man was found shot.James Lee, 27, of Henry Nelson Street, South Shields, and Thomas Lee, 20, of no fixed address, will stand trial on October 11, 2021.

The brothers were both remanded in custody in the meantime.

When a person is remanded in custody it means they will be detained in a prison until a later date when a trial or sentencing hearing will take place.
