The Home Office’s July statistics cover Northumbria Police’s three policing neighbourhoods for the area and show a fall of hundreds of reported offences compared to June’s statistics (available here). Cases are said to have taken place “on or near” named locations and all streets are in South Shields unless otherwise stated.

The Home Office stresses on its www.police.uk website that locations "are only an approximation of where the actual crimes occurred, they are not the exact locations" and that incidents may on occasion have taken place "within a 1 mile radius". Photo: Yui Mok
18. How to contact Northumbria Police
Ring 999 in emergencies or 101 for non-emergencies. An emergency is classed as: "Does it feel like the situation could get heated or violent very soon? Is someone in immediate danger? Do you need support right away? If so, please call 999 now." Photo: Dave Thompson
