Staff threatened with knife in robbery at South Shields shop - detectives launch CCTV appeal

Detectives investigating a robbery at Boldon Lane News on Stoddart Street, South Shields have now released a CCTV image of a man they would like to trace.
Northumbria Police has confirmed that an investigation into the offence is underway and say the man in the CCTV image – released on Wednesday, June 3 – was seen in the area at the time of the robbery.

Hide AdOfficers are keen to speak to the man in the picture, as they believe that he could provide further information which can help them with their inquiries.
The incident took place at around 1.20pm on Monday, May 25, when a man entered the Boldon Lane News and threatened a staff member with a knife.
He then demanded money from the till and before fleeing the scene with the victim left shaken by the incident, but otherwise unharmed.
The force confirmed that a 29-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail, pending further inquires.
