Stealing bath gift sets and destroying a display rack of plants at Asda: The latest cases heard in court round-up

The following cases were heard at Sunderland and South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court:

David Richardson, 29, of Hendon Valley Road, Sunderland, was given a two-year conditional discharge after pleading guilty to stealing two bath gift sets from Asda, destroying a display rack of plants at Asda, valued at £500, and assault. He was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation.

Grant McClean, 20, of Bluebell Way, South Shields, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge.

Greg Macdonald, 25, of Coquet, Rickleton, Washington, was found guilty of assault and of causing fear of violence. He also admitted a charge of criminal damage. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay £450 in compensation, £600 costs and a £122 surcharge. He was also made the subject of a restraining order.

Steven Puttock, 26, of Lord Nelson Street, South Shields, admitted a charge of criminal damage, He was fined £93 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge.

James John Vincent Donohoe, 30, of Canon Cockin Street, Sunderland, was fined £60 after it was proven in his absence that he attempted to steal a gift set from Superdrug. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a surcharge of £32.

Charlene Cram, 39, of William Street, Hebburn, was given a five-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, after admitting breaching a court order. She was ordered to pay £30 costs.

Andrew Allan, 53, of Rose Street, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to provide a specimen. He was fined £200 and banned from driving for 29 months. He was also told to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge.

Grace Cunningham, 35, of Manet Gardens, South Shields, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was fined £346 and banned from driving for 20 months. She was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 surcharge.

Thomas Alex Liddiard, 28, of Rutherford Road, Sunderland, was given a 12-month conditional discharge after admitting driving with excess alcohol. He was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a £21 surcharge.

Gavin Joseph Kerr, 42, of Polton Square, Pennywell, Sunderland, admitted driving without insurance and a licence and failing to stop for a police officer. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 12 months.

Max McKenna, 18, of Charles Street, Boldon, was given a six-month conditional discharge after pleading guilty to assault. He was ordered to pay £50 compensation, £85 costs and a £21 surcharge.
