Sunderland man jailed after stealing booze from South Shields hotel
A thief has been jailed after admitting stealing a bottle of Southern Comfort from a hotel.
Jeffrey Daniel Clarke, 38, of Sunderland, is now behind bars for 11 weeks after pleading guilty to the theft of the £24 bottle belonging to the Little Haven Hotel, in River Drive, South Shields, and two other charges.
Jailing him just 24 hours after the offence, South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court decided the case was “so serious because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders”.

He also received a further week's imprisonment because he had defaulted on court payments of £2,402 imposed in 2018.
Clarke, of Pennywell Bail Hostel, in Hylton Road, was also ordered to pay a victim’s surcharge of £128.
