Two women sexually assaulted in South Shields streets - police appeal to find male suspect

Officers were first contacted on Saturday, May 30, by a woman who was walking her dog near Westoe Crown Primary School at about 8.20am when a male on a bicycle slapped her on the bottom before riding off.
The victim, in her 50s, did not suffer serious injury but was left shaken by the incident.

Hide AdShe has described the teenage offender as tall, of slim build wearing dark joggers and a dark grey hoody.
A few days later, on Tuesday, June 2, officers were alerted to a similar report of sexual assault that happened on South Promenade at about 6.45am.
Another female victim, in her 40s, was walking her dog when a male passed her and slapped her on the bottom before riding off. The offender was described as about 5’7 with faint facial hair, and was wearing dark joggers and a grey hoody.
An investigation has been launched into both incidents, which officers are treating as linked, and inquiries are ongoing to identify the male responsible.

Hide AdOfficers are now appealing for anybody who witnessed anything suspicious in either location, or believe they may know who is responsible, to come forward and assist with the investigation.
