Woman left with serious injuries after major A19 incident - police appeal launched
A woman has been left with serious injuries after a suspected hit and run on a major road.
Police have launched an appeal for information for anyone travelling on the A19 near Holystone last night, Friday, December 5.

At around 10.40pm last night, Northumbria Police were alerted to a collision between a Volkswagen T-roc and a Skoda Fabia on the section of road between the Silverlink Roundabout and Holystone.
It’s believed that the Volkswagen T-roc has overtaken a stationary vehicle on the side of the road, and while overtaking it has collided with the Skoda Fabia.
The driver of the Skoda Fabia did not stop at the scene.
Emergency services attended the scene, including a crew from the Great North Air Ambulance, where the driver of the Volkswagen T-roc, a woman aged in her 30s, had sustained serious injuries.
She was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where she remains in a critical condition.
Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Both remain in police custody.
A section of the road remained closed northbound more than 12 hours after the incident. The road reopened in both directions just after 3pm today, December 6.
Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage of the moments leading up to or following the collision.
