Woman's death being treated as 'unexplained' by detectives after she is found inside East Boldon house

Northumbria Police officers taped off part of Ferndale Avenue and forensic officers were seen at the property after the alarm was raised in the early hours of the morning.
The North East Ambulance Service alerted police to to the tragedy after its medics were first asked to attend the address, which is off Sunderland Road.

Hide AdIt has confirmed it was called to a private address in the street just after 11.30pm on Saturday, January 2, and sent a double-crewed ambulance and a critical care manager to the incident.


An investigation has been launched, with the woman’s death being treated as “unexplained” by detectives.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson added: “Shortly before 2am on Sunday, January 3, we were alerted by the ambulance service that a woman’s body had been found inside an address on Ferndale Avenue, East Boldon.
“The woman, 58, has since been identified and her next of kin have been notified.

Hide Ad“Specialist family liaison officers are continuing to offer them any support they need at this time.
“The woman’s death is currently being treated as unexplained.
“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact us.”
