Reports in Italy suggest the ‘Old Lady’ are keen to snap up the 26-year-old Dutch international.

Janmaat signed for Newcastle from Feyenoord for £5m in 2014 but the Magpies will expect him to move on following their relegation to the Championship and might be willing to accept in the region of £3m.

The right-back won the North East player of the Year award in 2015, beating off Middlesbrough’s George Friend and Grant Leadbitter for the top prize.

It would be no surprise if Janmaat opted to swap the black and white of Newcastle for Juventus, who won this year’s Serie A title nine points clear of second-placed Napoli.

Juventus were knocked out of the Champions League this season in the round of 16 by Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, striker Papiss Cisse is reportedly in talks with Qatari club Lekhwiya over a possible transfer.

Newcastle will need to trim their wage bill after relegation from the Premier League, despite raking in £72.8million in TV and prize money during the season.

The Magpies will miss out on next season’s new bumper TV deal, and while they will have a parachute payment of almost £40million next term, they will need to offload high earners.

Cheick Tiote has also been linked with a move away, while the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Georginio Wijnaldum could also depart.
