Deal for Henri Saivet 'very close', according to Steve McClaren
Steve McClaren has confirmed that Henri Saivet is on Tyneside to complete a move to Newcastle United.
The winger is undergoing a medical and discussing personal terms after a £5million bid was accepted by Bordeaux.
Asked if Saivet was at the club for a medical, head coach McClaren said: "That's what he's doing. We're waiting for the outcome of that."
McClaren added that a deal for the 25-year-old Senegal international was "very close."
But the 54-year-old refused to confirm or deny Newcastle's interest in Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
