DJ David meets ex-Coronation Street star

A former Coronation Street star has shown his support for a local hospital radio DJ that he first met four years ago.

Bruce Jones, famous for his long-running Les Battersby character in the ITV soap, did an interview with South Tyneside Hospital radio presenter David Johnson.

The DJ, from Jarrow, was invited to the Little Haven Hotel in South Shields, where the well-known actor was hosting a three-day Country Festival.

David said: “I first met Bruce a few years ago when he was a guest with me in the studio for one of my hospital radio shows, so it was great to catch up with him again.

“He told me how he loved coming to South Tyneside and in particular South Shields, as he has built up many friendships around these parts.

“He enjoys taking regular breaks at the Little Haven Hotel down on the beach.”

The ex-Corrie star said: “It was great to meet my friend David – I love his passion for playing his music and making people happy.

“I had a wonderful time in South Shields with my friends at the Little Haven Hotel last weekend.

“I have made some great friends around South Tyneside via my recent frequent visits and I really look forward to my visits to South Shields – it’s a lovely friendly town.”

David, presents hospital radio shows for Radio South Tyneside and also Sunderland Hospital Radio.

Radio South Tyneside is this year celebrating 60 years of broadcasting and the station under the guidance of Ron Cameron plan to mark the special anniversary year.

David, 25, added: “Bruce was very kind and we made some special anniversary promos for the station.”
