Natasha Doran says she has been left “overwhelmed” by the number of people who came through the gates of Chuter Ede Community Centre for the Tyne and Wear Family Fun and Dog Show.

It is the second time the event has taken place at the venue in Galsworthy Road, South Shields.

“And this year, has been no different. As soon as we opened the gates, people were coming in with their dogs.

“I just love how the community has all come together - it’s lovely.

“I’m trying to get the event so it becomes annual. This year we are raising funds for Tyne and Wear Paw Life which is a rescue re-homing service.

“I’ve had a lot of support from South Tyneside Council and the staff at Chuter Ede have been amazing. They have been so supportive, they have pretty much done the event with us.”

Natasha, from South Shields, who has rescue dogs herself, was supported in her event by a range of businesses from across South Tyneside and further afield.

Throughout the event visitors were able to enjoy a range of funfair rides, browse a number of stalls and enter their dogs into one of a range of classes including Best Pedigree, Best Rescue, Golden Oldie and Waggiest Tail. There was also an agility pen where owners could test out their dogs skills by taking them round a course.

Brenda Allan, travelled from Wallsend with her daughter Jade and her partner Kelly Hilton, with their five rescued greyhounds Ice, Mickey, Juno, Ritchie and Toby.

She said: “It’s the first time we have been here. We Saw it advertised on Facebook.

“We tend to go to quote a lot of events like this, the furthest we have travelled is Durham. But this is lovely.”
