Motorists are being warned to take extra care on the roads today after heavy overnight snow in the North East.

Parts of the region woke up to several inches of snow this morning, and although most of the main roads were fine, many people found it hard to get off their estates.

It's not all bad news though - Cleadon Hills between South Shields and Sunderland looked absolutely lovely.
