Durham seek T20 victory over Notts tonight after drawn Championship showdown

The Jets go into the game with a record of one win and one defeat in the Northern Division so far, and Durham will be determined to overcome Notts having seen the Specsavers County Championship clash at Trent Bridge end in a draw yesterday.

The 12 points moved Paul Collingwood’s side top of Division One, temporarily at least with other games finishing today, and maintained their unbeaten start.

An injury sustained by Graham Onions, who limped off midway through his fourth over yesterday, added to Durham’s frustration.

Brendan Taylor became the first Notts player to complete a century in both innings since Russell Warren against Middlesex at Lord’s in 2003. He is the first to manage it at Trent Bridge since Tim Robinson in 1989.

When play was called off, Notts were 289-5, an overall lead of 376 – and a declaration appeared imminent, with only 63 overs remaining.

Notts began the day on 104-1. Any immediate progress was stifled as Onions dismissed Greg Smith for 21, trapping the batsman lbw with one that kept low.

Jake Libby steered Chris Rushworth to gully for 42 and Michael Lumb hit a return catch to Scott Borthwick, having made 52 from 71 balls

Taylor played superbly, monopolising his 97-run stand with Lumb as he hit three sixes to bring up his 50 from just 35 balls.

Borthwick grabbed his eighth wicket of the match when Samit Patel chopped into the keeper’s gloves for 10.

Taylor pulled the same bowler for six to move to 96 and then dabbed part-time bowler Mark Stoneman to third man to bring up his 28th first-class ton from 79 balls, but steady drizzle fell and the umpires decided that it was time to call a halt.
