Emergency services called out to report of surfer in trouble off South Shields
Emergency services were called to South Shields’ Littlehaven Beach today after reports that a surfer was in trouble.

South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade posted on social media that members had been called out to the beach shortly before 2.30pm today, Sunday, February 7.
However, the alert was cancelled while volunteers were on their way: "The team were tasked to Littlehaven beach to a report of a surfer in difficulty,” said the statement.
"We were stood down en route as he was safe and well.”
