Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) and a crew from the North East Ambulance Service were called to Green Lane in South Shields at 11.06pm on Friday to a report of a road traffic collision involving one car.

An ambulance service spokesperson confirmed in a statement that one person was treated at the scene and then discharged.

They said: “We were called at 11.06pm last night to a report of a road traffic collision.

"We dispatched one hazardous area response crew and a patient was treated at the scene who was discharged.”

TWFRS attended the call-out but were stood down as the driver of the vehicle had exited the car without assistance.

A spokesperson said: “We attended a road traffic collision involving one car on Green Lane last night but on arrival the person had already safely removed themselves from the vehicle.”
