Emergency services on the scene after three-vehicle crash in South Shields

Drivers in South Tyneside are facing delays following a three-vehicle crash this morning.

Emergency services on scene of crash in South Shields this morning.

It happened close to the Lindisfarne Roundabout at the A194 Leam Lane.

One lane has been left partially blocked.

The North East Traffic Live account earlier tweeted: "A194 Leam Lane, lane one partially blocked prior to the A1300 John Reid Road roundabout due to a three vehicle collision."

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "At around 8.35am police received a report of a three-vehicle collision on Leam Lane near to the junction with Hadrian Road.

"Emergency services attended and found a van and two cars.

"A female driver received treatment from paramedics at the scene but the other drivers were uninjured.

"The road is now clear and traffic is moving freely in the area."
