Emergency services rescue dog trapped on South Shields cliff
Emergency services were called out to rescue a dog trapped halfway up a cliff.
South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade and Sunderland Coastguard worked together to reach the pet at Trow Quarry, South Shields, at 5.13pm on Friday, March 5.
A spokesperson for brigade said: “We lowered one of the Sunderland rope rescue technicians to the dog, a chocolate labrador, and secured him in our special animal rescue bag.
"He was then lowered to the bottom of the cliff to his awaiting owner, no worse for his ordeal.”
