Ex-Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue completes Sunderland move

Emmanuel Eboue has rubber stamped a short term deal at Sunderland to boost the Black Cats' defensive options in the survival fight.

The ex-Arsenal man agreed a contract until the end of the season with Sunderland last week, yet it has taken several days for the paperwork to be processed.

But Eboue's move has now been finalised and the 32-year-old will now fight with DeAndre Yedlin and Billy Jones for the right back spot.

Eboue's signing follows a successful four week trial at Sunderland when the ex-Ivory Coast international has proved his fitness, despite being without a club since his release by Turkish side Galatasary at the end of last season.

He remains short on competitive action and will require several more outings in both friendlies and for the Under-21s before he is ready to return in the Premier League.

But Eboue's experience of more than 200 outings for Arsenal has appealed to Allardyce, as has his bubbly character around the training ground.
