Ex-Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi searching for another club after leaving Fleetwood


The former Newcastle United striker is on the club's released list, which was published today.
Ameobi – who joined Fleetwood in February – has also had spells at Gaziantep, Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers since leaving Newcastle two years ago.

Hide AdThe 34-year-old scored one goal and made 10 appearances for the League One club.
Ameobi had been a target for ambitious non-league club South Shields before his move to Fleetwood.
Manager Jon King said at the time: "I got a number for Shola and spoke to him after I saw he was unattached and not playing.
“When things like this come up you don’t know what people are thinking – whether they’d rather play local, retire, go abroad...
“I asked the question and if you don’t ask, you don’t get.

“I thought it might be a good fit with Shola, but it was the wrong time. Who knows? It might be a better time in the future.”
