Exhibition of photographer's work featuring Jarrow march on show

Photographer Paul Perry’s work on the Jarrow Crusade is on display within the town’s library for a further two weeks.
The exhibition was put together to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the famous march which saw 200 men walk to London in protest of the lack of jobs in the area.

Hide AdMr Perry, who has amassed more than 70,000 images of Jarrow since he started his collection in 1966 said: “I heard there was going to be a number of exhibitions in relation to the Jarrow March around the region, however, there was not one for Jarrow.
“This crusade was part of Jarrow’s history and this is the place e where an exhibition should be held.
“This display is around 100 yards from where it all started from.
“There has been a number of people who have gone along to the exhibition and I’ve been really pleased with the response.
