Final preparation underway for weekend Sand Dancer coastline running race
One of the biggest races in South Shields’ running calendar takes place this weekend.
On Sunday, May 10 hundreds of runners will head to the South Shields coast to take part in the Sand Dancer 10k event.
Moved due to a clash with the pier to pier race between South Shields and Sunderland, the run will now take place this weekend.
The race is organised by South Shields Harriers Athletic Club.
Places remain available through the event’s website for the senior race, which will start and end at Gypsies Green Stadium on the seafront.
These places can be booked online through the organiser’s website.
Three events will make up the event, with a race for those between the ages of two and 11 starting at 10:15am. A junior race for those over 12 will start at 10:30 while the senior race will get underway at 11am.
No roads will be closed for the event with routes remaining on the cliff side of the Coast Road.
