First Peter Rabbit 50p coins go into tills - here's where to find them
The first Peter Rabbit 50p coins have been released into general circulation.
Beatrix Potter's creation is the first children's literary character to appear on a UK coin to mark the 150th anniversary of the author's birth in 1866.
The Royal Mint's coin has gone into the tills at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere and at several National Trust venues in the Lake District.
Potter's children's book The Tale Of Peter Rabbit, the first to feature the character, was an instant success after being picked up in 1902 by British children's publisher Frederick Warne & Co.
The income from the sales of the book allowed her to buy her Hill Top home in the Lakes.
