Four decades of iconic music hits set to come to a South Shields venue
A North East band is putting together the final preparations as it looks to bring a new show to South Shields.
Members of the public are invited to take a trip through four decades of iconic music as a new show comes to a historic South Tyneside theatre.
The Westovian Theatre, on Pier Parade, in South Shields will play host to the 4 Decades show on Saturday, September 5, as audiences take a trip back in time.
The show travels through 40 years of unforgettable music with iconic anthems that defined the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
‘Toe tappers’ and 80s dance classics
Whilst the 4 Decades Show is new, the band, which is made up of members Claire, Dave, Tony and Graeme, has been touring around the UK for around the last 30 years.
They have revealed that the first half of the show will be set to feature ‘toe tappers’ and ‘finger-snapping hits’ from the likes of Brenda Lee and The Beatles.
Then the second half will see the audience experience the ‘grooves’ of Stevie Wonder and Sister Sledge before partying through 80s classics from the likes of Abba and Guns N’ Roses.
‘Come along and spend all your money’
Speaking to the Shields Gazette ahead of the show coming to the town next month, Dave has given an insight into what the South Shields audience can expect from the 4 Decades.
He said: “We’re going to bring the 4 Decades show to the Westovian in South Shields - it’s a North East venue that we’re all familiar with.
“All four of us have been together for many years and we’re all predominately from the North East so we’ve got a lot of experience.
“The show features music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s - with costumes to go with the decades.
“We’re going to bring a lot of fun, dance tracks and more so come along and spend all your money.”
Tickets for the 4 Decades Show are on sale now for £19.24 each (£18 plus a £1.24 booking fee).
