Glendale has provided arboriculture services to the council for the past 15 years, with the grass maintenance service an additional element of the new contract.

The contract has also resulted in the recruitment of four apprentices, three grounds maintenance and one arboriculture, who will undergo training at Northumberland College.

Dave Curry, contract manager for Glendale’s North East arboriculture division, said: “We have a strong partnership with the council after having worked together for many years, and are pleased to be able to strengthen our offering with the addition of grass maintenance services.

“The new contract also means four apprenticeship positions have been created, which reinforces our commitment to developing the next generation of talent and providing jobs for local people.

Councillor Tracey Dixon, lead member for area management and community safety at South Tyneside Council, said: “We have already developed a strong working relationship with Glendale over the years and are delighted to be widening our partnership to include grounds maintenance services across the borough.

“This new contract will see us strengthen our links with the company even
further while helping us to ensure our parks, pitches and open spaces look their best.”
