He served in the merchant navy as a second engineer during the Second World War. His ship the SS Foam Queen was sailing on the south coast just off Hastings, when she was torpedoed by a German U Boat.
On November 3, 1943, my uncle was killed and his body lost at sea, he was 43 years old. The ship was beached on the south coast near Hastings. His name in on the Tower Hill memorial in London.

Hide AdHis death had a big impact on the family, he left wife Nellie and four children. He was a lovely man and well loved by all.
