Happy faces at South Shields festival


The Mayor and Mayoress of South Tyneside, Councillor Olive Punchion and Mrs Mary French opened the Laygate Festival.
The event, which was held in the Living Waters and St Jude’s Church square, featured a host of activities including a bouncy castle, live entertainment and the Living Water Youth Band.

Families also enjoyed face painting, demonstrations and more.
The weekend activities continued with the Horsley Hill and Harton fun day, which took place at Marsden Road Health and Wellbeing Centre and ended a week-long programme of events in the area.
The superhero themed fun day included a choir performance, face painting, inflatables, arts and crafts activities among other attractions.
The Mayor said: “These are great events bringing local communities together and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the activities on offer.”
