Hebburn comedian to bring popular Christmas charity shows back to Newcastle’s O2 City Hall

A Hebburn comedian is bringing two Christmas charity shows to Newcastle’s City Hall.

Jason Cook has announced that the ever-popular Laffs4Kids Christmas shows will be returning to Newcastle’s O2 City Hall.

The Hebburn comedian traditionally held the shows at the venue before moving to the Utilita Arena in 2024.

The Christmas comedy show started back in 2015 after Jason, who was covering a show on Metro Radio, discovered that there were thousands of North East children living in poverty who face waking up to nothing on Christmas Day.

Ever since then, he has gathered a number of comedians from across the country, who give their time for free, to put on a comedy show in which the audience pay discounted rates for tickets with the premise that they bring Christmas presents to the gig to be donated.

Last year’s Laffs4Kids saw the audience donate more than 20,000 Christmas gifts to children in poverty.

Speaking previously, Jason said: “The kids that get these presents live a mile from most people’s houses.

“The poverty statistics show that people are choosing between heating their home and feeding their family, so Christmas is an unrealistic luxury.”

South Shields’ very own Chris and Rosie Ramsey have been among the acts to take part in previous years, with other popular comedians such as Adam Rowe, Matt Richardson, Scott Bennett, Mc Hammersmith, and more having also starred.

Laffs4Kids returns to the O2 City Hall for two shows on Sunday, December 13 - with the afternoon show at 1pm and the evening show at 6.30pm.
