The work will cost £1,211 and will be provided by funding from the Hebburn Community Area Forum (CAF).

The defibrillator is in place on the wall of the West Park pavilion, which is home to the Jarrow Bowling Club. It was installed in January 2022 after the West Park Community Group raised the funds to place it there.

The work will involve “Removal of the fence panel, and a new post cemented and new panel added.”

Documentation from South Tyneside Council states: “This CAF scheme will make it easier for anyone in the bowling area to reach the defibrillator and also give access to the storage facility for the bowlers.”

Approval for the funding came at a CAF meeting in Hebburn on November 2. Funding was proposed by Cllr Sheryl Jones, who represents the Monkton ward.
