Householders urged to prepare for power cuts in severe weather
Northern Powergrid, which is responsible for managing the power network across the North East, is encouraging people take action to understand what to do in the event of a power cut.
This includes making sure any family or friends with medical or health conditions – which would make a temporary power cut more than just inconvenient – signs up to the firm’s priority services register.

“We want our customers to know how to report a power cut and what advice and support we can offer to help them manage while our engineers work to restore their power.”
The priority service register offers additional support to people with a disability, medical condition or very young families by keeping them updated as a priority.
