How '˜angels' are helping the parents of children fighting cancer
The People’s Angels have stepped in to help by providing tea and coffee to those who are regular visitors to the children’s cancer unit at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Hospital.
The group launched a drive for donations after being made aware of the need for refreshments by South Shields mum Kerry Oates.

Hide AdHer 11-year-old son is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia on the ward.
She said: “I’m in a parent’s support group and one of the parent’s started to ask for donations of tea and coffee for the room at the hospital.
“The hospital provides an amazing service for our children, so we thought we would try and help them out by providing the tea and coffee facilities for parents.”
Sh added: “The help we have had from the People’s Angels is amazing. I can’t thank them enough.”

Hide AdTo boost the donations further, another local woman, Karen Ratcliffe has organised a coffee morning at the Freemason’s Hall, next to Morrison’s in South Shields on Friday.
The event is in aid of Comic Relief, however, anyone who donates tea and coffee for the children’s cancer unit will be offered a free cuppa.
The coffee morning starts at 10.30am until noon and will feature entertainment by Jen Stevens and storytime for youngsters by Storytime Stars at 11.15am.
