Hundreds raised by Alzheimer's Society supporters

Friends of Patrick Cain House in South Eldon Street and Blenkinsop Court in Galsworthy Road, both South Shields, joined forces to raise cash for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The money was raised through a series of bingo nights and social evenings held at the respective venues.

Resident Anne Nightingale said: “The Alzheimer’s Society is one which is close to our hearts as well all know someone who has been affected by the condition one way or the other whether it’s being diagnosed with the condition themselves, or know a family member of friend who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
“I personally have had experience of close relatives who have suffered with the condition and I know how much the charity does to support those diagnosed with dementia.”
The cheque is the latest to be handed to the charity, after a cheque for £1,000 was handed over earlier this year.
