Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has a number of animals that are looking for their forever home.
The shelter, which was established in 1896, helps animals that are unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned - as well as reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving new homes for those who are no longer wanted.
Here are 15 cute animals who are in need of a home - you can find out more at: https://www.dogandcatshelter.com/.
Take a look and see if you can open your heart and home to a new four-legged friend!

5. Kieran (Cross breed)
Kieran is a sweet boy who is known to be wary of strangers initially, especially men. It didn’t take him long to start warming up to shelter staff, and since he’s got to know everyone, he’s become a very sweet lad. As he’s continued to settle, the more we’ve got to know him and he is a goofy and playful lad who can be a little OTT at times, though always meaning well. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

6. Alfie (Lurcher)
Alfie was brought into the shelter as a stray via the dog warden- he was terrified and completely shut down. He wanted to stay out of the way of the staff and just mostly lay in his bed. Since then he has really come out of his shell and is a very sweet and affectionate dog and loves getting attention from people and will pull towards people on site to go and get some fuss from them! | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

7. Legolas (Crossbreed)
Legolas will require an experienced owner who has the time and patience to help train him and also be capable of managing his challenging behaviour from the moment he goes home as he will only get bigger and stronger. Whilst at the shelter, staff have seen some anxious traits, and lots of over arousal, which leads to a lot of jumping up and mouthy behaviours, all quite typical for a puppy. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

8. Lanya (Old Tyme Bulldog)
Lanya is a real sweetheart and a sensitive soul who can be shy when meeting new people, but is a real love bug once she is comfortable with you! Lanya has lots of energy and loves a game of fetch with a tennis ball, she would do this all day long if you let her! She would love a home with a garden big enough for her to play in to burn off some of that excess energy. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
