St Bede’s RC Primary pupils welcomed Lucy Turner and Scott Hall for a special visit.

Lucy, who represented Great Britain in heptathlon in the European Cup, and Scott, a full England international in both long and triple jump, provided an inspirational assembly on how their determination to never give up and overcome adversity has helped them on their successful sporting journeys.

Every class at the Claypath Lane school enjoyed a brilliant PE session with Lucy and Scott, where children looked to achieve personal best performances in athletics activities.

The children also wore their community club colours and ‘sporty clothes’, while generously raising a money for Sport Relief.

Brian McVittie, PE co-ordinator at the school, said: “Lucy and Scott were wonderful role models for the children as they live out how hard work and personal belief can help anyone realise their dreams in their chosen pursuit.”
