Investigations under way into antisocial behaviour caught on film

People have been urged not to share videos of attacks online as officers look to protect those subjected to abuse.

The plea comes after Northumbria Police launched inquiries into an incident in Hebburn which was filmed on camera and then shared via social media.

It has been reported a grandmother was abused by thugs while at a bus stop, with the clip posted on Snapchat and then highlighted via Facebook, where people condemned the actions of those responsible.

Inspector Denise Easdon, said: “We are aware of footage circulating on social media regarding an incident in Hebburn.

“At around 6pm on Wednesday, June 20, police received a report of antisocial behaviour on Lukes Lane.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

“We would encourage people not to share these videos on social media to protect the victim and would advise any footage to be sent to police.

“Anyone with more information should contact police at 101 quoting reference 1001 200618.”
