It's the dregs of television

So a new nightly television programme shown on the BBC called '˜Britain's Hardest Workers: Inside the Low Wage Economy, sees 20 low paid workers being exploited in a '˜unique social experiment'.

The workers are trying out a range of genuine low paid jobs while working against each other to find out who is the most adaptable, in an attempt to win £15,500.

Apparently 20,000 people have signed a petition for the show not to go ahead.

Furthermore, I would agree with Chris McGovern of the campaign for real education, who has said: ‘It’s a sinister example of poverty porn.

“It’s the dregs of entertainment making a spectacle of people’s misery.’

Meanwhile a spokesperson for the BBC said ‘Job insecurity is a real feature of people’s working lives and the purpose of the series is to reflect that.’
