I’ve worked in floristry for 16 years and now I’ve opened my own South Shields shop
A brand new florists has opened in South Tyneside.
An experienced florist has launched her very own business in South Shields after deciding that “if she didn’t do it now, she never would”.
Katie Waugh, who lives in Pelaw, officially opened Katie’s Flower Hut, on Westoe Road, on Saturday, June 6.
The 35-year-old has worked in floristry since she was around 19-years-old but recently made the decision that she wanted to launch her own business.
Katie has told the Shields Gazette about how proud she feels to have opened her own shop and gave an insight into how it is going so far.
She said: “I really wanted to start my own business and I thought that now is the time.
“I’ve done floristry for many years and I decided that I just wanted to do it for myself - if I didn’t do it now, then I never will.
“I don’t think that it has sunk in yet that this is mine but I absolutely love it and I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved so far.
“It has been going really well so far and I’m now getting plenty of different customers every day.
“The customers I’ve had have been really positive and everyone has been really happy.”
Katie’s Flower Hut is open Tuesday to Friday from 9.30am until 4pm and from 9.30am until 3pm on Saturdays - it is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
