Jarrow Roofing finally getting act together

After coming back from 3-1 down to beat West Auckland Town last Saturday, Roofing arrived at Marske’s GER Stadium in high spirits, but unfortunately a good performance was not enough to bring home a result.

But despite the defeat Roofing boss Richie McLoughlin saw positives in the performance and he believes his side were unlucky to leave Redcar without at least a point.

“Our performance was excellent,” he said. “We should have won the game or got a point at least, we were just unfortunate at the end.

“We made a mistake but the pitch was poor and we couldn’t quite get the ball down.”

Dunston are sitting comfortably in the league in ninth place, though their recent form has been inconsistent and Roofing may sense that they can get something from the clash.

Last time out Saturday’s hosts were humbled 4-1 by Sunderland RCA and have also suffered recent heavy defeats to Whitley Bay and Newton Aycliffe, losing 5-1 and 3-0 respectively.

Nevertheless they are still a dangerous side, proved by a 3-0 away victory at Consett last Saturday and McLoughlin realises that his team will need to put in a solid performance.

“We’ll look to approach the Dunston game the same as we did against Marske,” he continued. ”We see to be getting things together now, the team is working better which we’ve been calling for over the last few weeks.

“Everybody worked hard against Marske so if we show that same sort of commitment that we had on Tuesday and in the win against West Auckland, it should be a good game for both teams.”

The clash is a crucial one for Roofing, who must get a result as they look to climb away from the drop zone.

McLoughlin will have almost a full squad of players to choose from on Saturday as Corey Barnes, Adam Rundle and Josh Allan all return to the fold. An injured Jamie Marshall is the only absentee.
