Bell’s side enjoyed a fantastic midweek win over another team with promotion aspirations, Tow Law Town, and he hopes they can continue that form tomorrow.

With a number of injuries and a heavy schedule ahead, Bell has added ex-Hebburn Town and Seaham Red Star forward Kris Goss to his squad and is hopeful of signing a few more players.

He said: “We are delighted to welcome back Kris Goss to the club as our new signing.

“Kris is an excellent player and is a brilliant addition to our squad and has great Northern League experience.

“We are also hopeful we will have at least two more additions to the squad signed in time for Saturday and we are working hard to try to get the signings through in time.”

Whickham are in the final promotion spot in the Northern League Division Two table, level on points with leaders Blyth and Northallerton.

They enjoyed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Willington on the same night that Jarrow were beating Tow Law by the same scoreline, and Bell knows it will be a tough test for his players.

He added: “We know Whickham will be an even tougher test than Tow Law midweek, they are joint top of the league, top of the last six game form table and have 60 points already this season.

“They are a very strong and well organised team and have many threats so this is a really tough test for us, they are having a great season so far.

“We go into the game knowing how difficult it is going to be but go into it in good confidence. We are looking forward to the many challenges Whickham bring and know we have to be at our absolute best to stand any chance of picking anything up from the game.”

Stevie Graham and Luke Collins are unavailable while Jordon Mellish serves the second game of a four-match suspension.

Peter Kane is injured for the game and Jarrow are awaiting injury news on Mick Watson, Aaron Kah and Kris Allen but are hopeful all three will be available.
