Jose Enrique will NOT be returning to Newcastle United before tonight's transfer deadline.
The defender was strongly linked with a return to St James's Park after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp today floated the idea of a loan move.
Injury-hit Enrique, out in the cold at Anfield, left Newcastle in the summer of 2011 after criticising the club's ambition in a series of tweets.
United have been looking at brining in a left-back on loan as cover for Paul Dummett, but the Gazette understands that Enrique is not on the brink of a return to Tyneside.
The 30-year-old has six months left on his Liverpool contract.
