Luke Adams cruises to South Shields Park Run victory

Adams, from South Shields Harriers, forged clear of his rivals over the 5km on the Leas opening up a 28 seconds lead with 17:04 as Sunderland’s Ian Ritchie was second in 17:32.

Shields’ Richard Harrison was fifth in 18:51 with Paul Owen 10th in 20:17 and Jonathan Balmer 13th in 20:34.

Ashley Loader, from Jarrow and Hebburn AC, was 15th in 20:43 while junior under-14 William Fowler was 17th in 20:48.

Shields’ Kieran Moffat, 17, was 20th in 21:08 with Miles Weston 21st in 21:09 and third over 45. Michael McNally, also from the Jarrow club, finished 22nd in 21:25 and second over 50 with David Shearan 23d in 21:26.

Shields Carl Mowatt was 25th in 21:31 and first over-55 with Mark Kidger 29th in 21:52 and fourth over-50.

Ronnie Kidger was 34th in 22:15 and first over-60.

Hayden Steven, only 10, was 63rd in 24:36 and his father Kevin was 64th in the same time.

Bob Balmer was first over-70 in 29:52.

Carly Henderson, also from the Shields club, finished 28th overall in the mixed field of 180 winning the women’s section in 21:41.

Lara Gregg, of Sun City Triathlon Club, was second woman in 49th with 23:17.

Shields’ Kelly Beard-Foden was third in 23:54 and first over-40 with Corrina Hills sixth in 26:01 and Alison Kidger seventh in 26:28 and second over-45.

Angi Effard was 14th in 28:06 and first over-55 with Jarrow’s Christine Giligan 18th in 28:54 and third over-50 and junior Holy Smith was 19th in 28:55.

Shields’ Corrinne Dockwray was 22nd in 30:01. Ashley Cave was 23rd in 30:29 with Julie Plumpton 25th in 31:20 and Sharon Darling 26th in 31:20.

Melissa Cain was 28th in 31:29 with Victoria Borrell 31st in 32:49 and Stephanie Elliott 33rd in 33:24.

Amy Hardy was 34th in 33:25 with Chloe Smith 36th in 34:49 and Susan Burgess 37th in 34:54. Rachel Hawdon was 38th in 36:10 with Oksana Novokhrost 39th in 36:20 and Leanne Defty 40th in 36:27.

Michelle Loftus was 45th in 37:03 and fifth over-50 with Jarrow’s Susan McNally 46th in 37:04 and second over-55.

Julia Barnshaw was 48th in 37:23 with Shields’ Cheryl Reah 53rd in 39:30 and Armardeep Sudan 57th in 53:10 and third over-55.
